President Trump‘s re-election campaign urged people on Tuesday to donate to national disaster relief funds and animal welfare organizations to help those affected by Hurricane Harvey.

According to a Washington Examiner report:

“In an email sent to campaign supporters Tuesday, Donald J. Trump for President Inc. encouraged people to donate to the Red Cross, the Salvation Army, United Way, SPCA of Texas, SPCA of Louisiana, Houston Humane Society, and the Louisiana Humane Society.

“This is a time to come together as a nation to support those in need in the wake of this disaster and the unprecedented flooding they are experiencing in the greater Houston and coastal Texas region,” Lara Trump, Trump’s daughter-in-law and a senior adviser to the campaign, said in a statement. “Americans are at their finest when our friends and neighbors are in need — and the need in Texas is great and will continue to be for a long time.”

Lara Trump also offered “thoughts and prayers” to those in southeastern Texas, as well as first responders, disaster relief workers, and good Samaritans who have gone to Houston to help.

Hurricane Harvey hit southeastern Texas over the weekend and was downgraded to a tropical storm. But parts of the region, including Houston, have experienced devastating flooding due to record-setting rainfall, and thousands have been displaced due to the rising waters.

FEMA Administrator Brock Long said during a briefing Monday the agency expects roughly 30,000 people will seek temporary shelter.

Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner said more than 3,000 people have been rescued, according to the Associated Press, and calls continue to pour in to Houston law enforcement agencies and the U.S. Coast Guard.”
